Zebrix screens and players are required to broadcast high or ultra-high definition images and videos, which can represent a large volume of data to be transmitted, despite the care we take to compress the files. However, before they can start broadcasting, zebrix screens or players must be able to download all the media (images and videos) they need. Broadcasting only starts once all the media have been downloaded.

When several screens or players share the same bandwidth and broadcast identical or partially identical content (broadcast a playlist containing certain videos common to other playlists broadcast by other screens), the media will be downloaded as many times as there are screens. As an example, a 50 MB video present in the playlists played by 6 different screens will be downloaded 6 times, so its download will represent a total transfer volume of 300 MB.

The main purpose of the zebrix CacheBox is to prevent media used by several screens within a local network from being downloaded several times by these different screens. Its role will be to download media only once so that it can then be distributed across the local network. This mechanism will potentially divide the volume of data consumed on the internet connection as well as the bandwidth usage time by the number of screens.

If the screens sharing the same bandwidth do not share any media in common, the cachebox will have no beneficial effect on bandwidth. The beneficial effect of the cachebox is all the more beneficial the more media is shared by the different screens / players.
