"Seamless" Video Playback Mode
What is the "seamless" playback mode?
It's a video playback mode specific to SAMSUNG screen technology that prevents interruptions (approximately half a second of black screen) between videos.
However, the seamless mode is not supported in all situations; zebrix attempts to activate this functionality whenever possible.
This document outlines the scenarios in which this playback mode is supported by your SAMSUNG screen.
If you're using a zebrix player (NUC)
The NUC is not affected by the interruptions (black screen) between content. This limitation only applies to SAMSUNG SSSP screens.
Which screen models support the "seamless" playback mode?
SSSP version 1 screens (2013) models: MDxxC and MExxC
These screens do not support the seamless playback mode; a black screen interruption between two videos is unavoidable.
SSSP version 2 screens (2014) models: DBxxD, DMxxD, OMxxD, DHxxD
These screens support the seamless playback mode only in landscape orientation (not in portrait) and under the conditions mentioned below.
The seamless mode on the OMxxD range only works from firmware version 1044 onwards.
SSSP version 3 screens (2015) models: DBxxE, DMxxE, DHxxE
These screen models support the seamless playback mode in both portrait and landscape orientations under the conditions mentioned below.
Tizen screens (SSSP version 4) (2017) models: PMxxF, PHxxF
These screen models always operate in seamless mode (no black screen between content, regardless of their nature). A brief black screen at the end of a playlist is possible.
In which cases is seamless play possible?
The seamless mode is also possible in the following two scenarios for a page:
When a page contains a full-screen video zone with multiple videos to be played consecutively. When a page contains a non-full-screen video zone with multiple videos, and the SSSP player option has been selected for the zone (note: no background color or image is possible in this case). For a playlist, all of the following conditions must be met:
The playlist must only contain videos (no images, no pages). When a playlist consists of multiple pages, each containing only a full-screen video zone with one or more videos. All videos must have the same framerate. SSSP2 only: All videos must be oriented in landscape mode.
