Seamless video playback mode

It is a video playback mode specific to SAMSUNG's screen technology that avoids cuts (blackout of +- 1/2 second duration) between videos.

However, seamless mode is not supported in all situations, zebrix tries to enable this feature in all cases where this option is possible.

This document describes when this playback mode is supported by your SAMSUNG screen.

The NUC is not affected by blackout between contents. This limitation applies only to SAMSUNG SSSP screens.

SSSP version 1 (2013) screens models : MDxxC et MExxC

These screens do not support seamless playback mode, a blackout between two videos is inevitable.

SSSP version 2 (2014) screens models : DBxxD, DMxxD, OMxxD, DHxxD

These screens support seamless playback mode only in landscape orientation (not portrait) and under the conditions described below.

Seamless mode on the OMxxD series only works with firmware version 1044 and higher.

SSSP version 3 (2015) screens models : DBxxE, DMxxE, DHxxE

These screen models support seamless portrait and landscape playback under the conditions described below.

Tizen (SSSP version 4) (2017) screen model: PMxxF, PHxxF

These screen models always work with seamless (no black between any content). A short black at the end of the playlist is possible.

Seamless mode is also possible in the following two situations for a page :

  • When a page contains a full-screen video area that contains multiple videos that need to be linked together
  • When a page contains a non-full screen video area that contains several videos and for which “SSSP player” has been checked in the zone options (attention, no background color or image possible in this case)

For a playlist, all the following conditions must be met :

  • The playlist should only contain videos (no image, no page)
  • When a playlist runs across multiple pages containing only a full-screen video area containing one or more videos.
  • All videos must have an identical framerate.
  • SSSP2 Only : all videos must be landscape oriented.
